"WORKSHOP ON
 QUALITY AND AUTHENTICITY OF
WEB RESOURCES"

Hello readers, this is very special blog  , which is now very coupled with today's world, as we all know that nowadays the world is a Handy object for everyone, how to get information is not much bigger question , Google and internet services provides every information about every subject and the very people using internet access in their research papers and study materials, it is about ethical use of technology but people using this kind of facilities in unethical too.

“The world is being re-shaped by the convergence of social, mobile, cloud, big data, community and other powerful forces. The combination of these technologies unlocks an incredible opportunity to connect everything together in a new way and it’s dramatically transforming the way we live and work.”
-Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce

On the day of 19th November, students of English department at Maharaja krishnakumarsinhji University, Bhavnagar had a very fruitful discussion and session (Workshop) on authoritative qualified reliable and qualitative materials which we generally use for study purpose. Here our head of department @Dilip Barad Sir kindly explain the whole process of getting authentic qualitative resources from very reliable sites, he also checks our plagiarism in exam assignments.

Here we gain knowledge about which material or data helps us for making good preparation as well as which information data and materials are much more authentic for studies. We personally try to justify and evaluating some web sites and web sources with the help of Turnitin.

What is Turnitin?

"A service to determine the originality of texts based on comparisons with their internal database and net-wide searches."

Help your students develop key referencing and writing skills with our free Academic Research & Writing Principles checklist.

What is the plagiarism?

Many students simply do not know what plagiarism is. Their awareness, if any, often derives from urban legends and myths. Some of these myths include:

"If you change an author's words into your own words, you don't have to cite it."
Many other students know what plagiarism is, but don't consider it wrong. Some have a personal belief that "information wants to be free," and that copying from others is merely an acceptable practice of recycling.

This below picture presenting some various kind of copying things with denoting marks, also makes clear the  seriousness of plagiarism.

Copying a paper sometimes looks like a shortcut through an assignment, but the way how  turnitin helps student to find copying things and it also emphasis on self reliance, Writing a research paper helps to develop the skills of researching (hunting for something in the information universe), problem solving (the principal work of most people), critical thinking (a lifelong skill if ever there was one), writing (language is the most powerful weapon on earth), perseverance, and commitment. It follows that the more students learn and develop their skills, the more effective they will be in their future lives. Emphasize the process and the benefits, not just the product.

Students are faced with too many choices, so they put off low priorities. as we per turnitin's report
Many students have poor time management and planning skills.  Some students are just procrastinators, while others do not understand the hours required to develop a good research paper as well as in study assignments. Thus, they are most tempted to copy a paper when time is short and they have not yet started the assignment. so if we get a proper material site authentic one so we can start up it too early , can be with topic, make draft, bibliography. This strategy will also help you discover when a student is on a downward spiral, having taken on too broad a topic or too narrow an approach.

So here i am going to present our practical work during workshop, this are the main four criteria where students should have to find their study sites, which are used by them for as regular reading, we have to evaluate this sites as per own perceptions and as per the manner of turnitin's  criteria.

Here I am sharing the part of a practical test on searching Google informative sites, this is the evaluating rubric .
